Art-directed portrait commissions for women who appreciate photography, personal style, and thoughtfully made things.

Each commission is a private, unhurried experience, shaped around you and guided by an individual approach to light, clothing, setting, and expression. The finished portrait is made as artwork for your home: something personal to live with and keep.

No occasion is required. Only the wish for a portrait made with intention.

The architecture of character

For women drawn to portraits with depth and presence, each commission is a study of character—shaped by natural light and the textures of Norfolk and the North Norfolk coast.

Informed by the honesty and atmosphere of twentieth-century portraiture, my work favours presence over polish.

I don’t aim to disguise or transform. I aim to see—and reveal what is already there.

The Portrait Commission

Some photographs are for remembering a day. Others become part of the place you call home.

The Portrait Commission is an opportunity to create an image with a particular sense of you: your character, your presence, and the details that make the portrait your own.

You may be marking a change in your life, or simply feel that the time has come for a portrait made with the same thought you bring to the art and objects you choose to live with.

A thoughtful process

**Prepare**

We begin with a private conversation about what draws you to the portrait. Together, we’ll consider clothing, location, and the mood you want the photographs to hold.

**Reveal**

Your session is relaxed and unhurried, with gentle direction throughout. We’ll work with natural expression, considered light, and simple, beautiful details—not elaborate styling or heavy retouching.

**Preserve**

At your private image-selection appointment, we'll choose the photograph that feels most like you and discuss the finished framed artwork.

Portrait commissions begin at £2,500, including a framed fine-art portrait.

Meet Marc Walton

The Eye Behind the Lens

I create portraits that feel present rather than performed.

I’m drawn to soft, directional light, textured settings and restrained retouching that preserves the character of a face and the natural texture of skin.

The most compelling portraits emerge when someone begins to feel at ease in front of the camera. I offer gentle direction and create a calm, trusting atmosphere, while leaving room for natural expression.

When I’m not photographing, I’m usually immersed in the Norfolk countryside. Its shifting light, textures and quiet beauty continue to shape the way I see.

I’d love to hear what you’d like your portrait to express.
